Alpine hikes in Ötztal
Indian summer & autumn on the alps around Obergurgl
The alpine summer in Ötztal is drawing to an end and the cattle return from the alps to the local stables in the valleys in late September. Many dairymen and dairymaids will, however, remain at the alpine huts around Obergurgl in order to pamper hikers with the culinary specialties of the region.
Experience unforgettable moments spent in nature during your pleasure hikes throughout Ötztal's alp landscape. Surrounded by the 3,000 metres high peaks of the Eastern Alps and of the Stubaier Alps you will discover a nature gem that is second to none.
From alp to alp
Ötztal's cable cars will comfortably and quickly take you up to the higher regions of the mountains (Ötztal-Card holders benefit from free rides). Find recreation, relaxation and peace above Obergurgl's rooftops, take in the views over the peaks of the Ötztal glaciers and enjoy a cosy hike from alp to alp.
The alpine landscape gently sets itself apart from the mountain tops of the Eastern Alps and presents itself in a soothing and idyllic way. It is here, where cows and sheep graze and spend their afternoons during the summer, that dairymen and dairymaids process the fresh milk to make delicious products like butter, cheese or yoghurt and prepare homemade delicacies that they then pamper their hiking guests with.
Experience culinary alpine highlights at Lenzeralm, Stallwies Alm or Langtalereck hut.
Families with children will also find a great range of hikes as well as a wide choice of games for their hiking breaks.
Why not take a hike to Hohe Mut Alm? Start at Gaisbergbrücke in Obergurgl from where the path takes you into Gaisberg Valley. Hike over moraines to the Gaisbergferner glacier tongue and follow the sign-posted path out of the valley and to Hohe Mut.
